Is Your App Underwater?

No that’s not a metaphor, we literally mean “underwater.” If your company makes recreational boats, military vehicles, troop landing craft, jet ski’s or amphibious vehicles of any stripe, then your application is probably underwater, at least part of the time.

Sourcing a switching solution for your vehicle is tough enough but finding a solution that is truly waterproof and operates reliably in unpredictably wet, vibrational conditions for long periods of time is another animal altogether.

It’s worth making the point (again) that CPI switches are truly waterproof, not just splash proof or water resistant. But what many folks don’t realize is that for us, waterproof literally means underwater, you know, down with the fish? And you can take any of our waterproof switches and put them in a wide variety of stainless steel brackets to support all kinds of mechanical actuation

CPI Switch and Brackets make a perfect pair.

That means for amphibious vehicles of all kinds, CPI’s sealed switches can solve a wide variety of application challenges that others can’t, or solve with much more mechanically complex and expensive solutions. And 100% of our production is in the USA, making your supply chain shorter, and more reliable.

Here just a few categories of vehicle systems our switches work, but really, if your application is underwater, well just use your imagination.

CPI's Wettest Amphibious Vehicle Applications

Safety Applications

E1127 with B-Series Waterproof Switch

Many of CPI’s waterproof switches are used in applications designed to “detect and protect.” Because our switches are designed to be mounted in a variety of stainless steel brackets that can be mechanically actuated, the range of detections they can reliably perform is enormous:

Door Open/Closed – in wet environments it’s kind of important that your vehicle doors, hatches, cabinets, engine hood and service area doors are fully shut before you go charging into the water. A common configuration is below using our E1092 limit switch

E1 Limit Switch

The spring of our E1 switches allow for up to .50″ (approx.) total travel. A cutout can be made in the door channel to allow the spring to protrude enough for the closing of the door to actuate the momentary switch and keep it closed until the door is opened again.

The stainless steel bracket which encloses one of our B series pendant switches is tough too. It won’t rust and won’t deform easily despite thousands of activations.

Operator Presence Detection (Dead Man Switch)

Typically Mounted under the seat padding, switch assemblies like our E1294 or E1127 with their low profile can be reliably used to detect an operator as a safety measure.

Customized lead lengths and wire terminations are available.

For CPI, the Wetter, the Better.

So many types of Amphibious vehicle applications are really perfect for USA made CPI switches.
