Announcing the First CPI Continuous Temperature Transducer (RTD)

For decades, Control Products Inc. (CPI) has been trusted for rugged, setpoint-based thermal switches—devices that do one critical job exceptionally well: open or close at a precise temperature to protect mission-critical systems. Today, CPI is proud to announce a major expansion of that legacy.
Meet the TS1000, an aerospace-ready, RTD-integrated thermal sensor that delivers continuous, high-accuracy temperature measurement, not just a single on/off event. It’s a meaningful evolution of CPI’s thermal expertise—designed for customers who need real-time temperature data in the harshest environments imaginable.

From Setpoint Switching to Continuous Insight

Traditional CPI thermal switches are engineered around a fixed setpoint: once the temperature is reached, the switch opens or closes—simple, reliable, and proven. The TS1000 provides another option for system designers.

By integrating a platinum RTD (Resistance Temperature Detector) directly into CPI’s proven stainless-steel probe architecture, the TS1000 provides continuous temperature readings based on precise resistance changes as heat varies. This allows engineers to monitor trends, gradients, and transient events—capabilities made for systems where remote computers or controllers use this data for more complex or gradual operational decisions.

This shift opens new possibilities for advanced thermal management, diagnostics, and control strategies across aerospace, defense, and other high-reliability applications.

Aerospace-Grade Accuracy, CPI-Grade Durability

At the heart of the TS1000 is a thin-film platinum RTD element (PT100 or PT1000), offering laboratory-grade measurement accuracy in a package designed for vibration, shock, moisture, and extreme thermal cycling.

Key performance highlights include:

  • Operating range: –40 °C to +150 °C (–40 °F to +300 °F)
  • Accuracy: as tight as ±0.15 K + 0.002 × |T|
  • Fast response: t90 ≈ 7 seconds in still water
  • Hermetically sealed stainless-steel construction
  • IP67 environmental sealing
  • Weight: under 50 grams (≈ 2 oz)

The TS1000 is designed with a certification path aligned to RTCA DO-160, making it well suited for modern aerospace qualification requirements.

Designed for Harsh, Mission-Critical Environments

RTD’s in aerospace and defense applications live in unforgiving places—where a bad temperature reading can ground an aircraft or compromise a mission. The TS1000 is engineered specifically for those environments, including:

  • Aircraft engine bays and propulsion systems
  • Avionics cooling circuits and liquid cooling loops
  • Environmental Control Systems (ECS)
  • Military vehicle powerpacks and coolant routing
  • UAV, missile guidance, and control system thermal zones
  • High-altitude, cryogenic, or vacuum-exposed assemblies

Wherever heat, dust, moisture, vibration, and reliability intersect, the TS1000 is built to perform.

Built to Fit Your System—Not the Other Way Around

Like CPI’s switching products, the TS1000 is designed for customization. Standard configurations include a MIL-DTL-38999 Series III connector and 1/2-UNF-3A mounting threads, but nearly every mechanical interface can be tailored.

Customization options include:

  • Probe length
  • Mounting thread type
  • Connector style and pin configuration
  • Redundant RTD element configurations upon request

This flexibility allows the TS1000 to integrate cleanly into existing platforms—or be purpose-built for entirely new designs.

A Natural Evolution of CPI Thermal Expertise

The TS1000 is now available for evaluation, customization, and field testing. CPI’s engineering team is ready to work directly with you to adapt this platform to your specific thermal monitoring challenges.

The result is a sensor that combines measurement precision with battlefield-grade durability—a product that feels right at home alongside CPI’s legacy of commercial, aerospace and defense thermal solutions dating back to 1946.
